“Lost in Space”

I love drawing space art digitally, but I thought it might be fun to try drawing it with pastels instead. I took a sheet of paper, painted it with black ink, and then coated it with some clear gesso, to give the paper nice grip. That’s how I usually prep for chalk pastels. I really love the texture I get that way, rather than working with ordinary pastel or even mix media paper’s texture.

After both ink and gesso were dry, I went to town with the pastels. My hand was pretty solidly a dark purpleish grey when I finished.
